Deliverables of the HET

Dear Stakeholder in high-performance computing arena,

High-Performance Computing in Europe Taskforce (HET) is approaching the deadline for launching the strategy proposal for building the European HPC Ecosystem.

The focus of the work has been in the top layers of the computational pyramid. The strategy proposes establishing European high-end computing resources with a petaflop performance and beyond, and in addition investing in the enabling activities for efficient utilization of such a computing performance. Examples of the enablers include petaflop-level software development projects, competence development for computational science, and efficient utilization of the existing national infrastructures and best practices from the current European projects for Research Infrastructures.

Today we are publishing three draft papers included in the HET strategy work. We would very much like to get your feedback and comments on these documents in order to prepare the final version of the strategy work, which will be published in January-February timeframe in 2007. The deadline for the comments in order to influence the strategy paper is January 2nd 2007. Comments on the funding model are welcome until January 10th 2007.
